Things to See and Do

Barnsley village:

  • The Village Pub - good food, usually a good idea to book though as they can get busy - 01285 740421.
  • St. Mary's Church - a beautiful cotswold stone medieval church, don't miss the older gravestones arranged along the back wall.

Close by:

  • The Organic Farm Shop - excellent food, great walks to explore and good for your organic grocery needs. Turn left out of the Barn Cottage car park and leave the village. It's on the right about three miles down the road towards Cirencester, just before the traffic lights at the Fosse Way junction.
  • Bibury: another local village, famed for it's ancient Arlington Row of cottages, trout farm, nature reserve and places to eat. Just turn right out of the Barn Cottage car park, head round the corner and it's four miles down the road.
  • Cirencester: formerly the ancient Roman town of Corinium, now a bustling market town huddled around a splendid church. The Corinium Museum and Abbey Grounds are a must. Less well known is the bullring, a small Roman amphitheatre. Turn left out of our car park and keep going for about four miles.
